Hello, my name is Erin Vande Hei and I currently work as a Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired with CESA 8. I am an itinerant teacher, so I work in several different school districts throughout Northeast Wisconsin. I am certified to teach students with visual impairments ages 3-21. The Educational Technology Masters program at Marian University has given me a solid foundation of knowledge of mainstream technology used in the 21st century classroom. The understanding and experience I have gained of technology in the regular education classroom has helped me to better create meaningful, useful adaptations and modifications for my students with visual impairments when they encounter such technology. Marian helped me to gain a better understanding of 21st century skills to better prepare my students for their chosen post-secondary paths. I have also learned several ways to increase my efficiency as an instructor, both in planning instruction and in communicating with colleagues, students, and parents. I feel that the skills and knowledge I have gained from this program is accurately and clearly displayed throughout this wiki. It has been a very positive learning experience that I will continue to expand upon even after completion of my degree.
